I have started a group of residents who are willing to volunteer their time and skills to help spruce up our town. There are a few ideas for ways for us to get started, and we have had our first meeting. There were residents from all over town in attendance, including 1st Ward Councilman Larry Dinardo. The biggest concerns brought up at the meeting involved the scarcity of trees in our town, and the appearance of the business areas downtown and on Westfield Ave. We also came up with the idea for a town-wide clean-up day, which apparently already exists, and we plan to participate in next year. I am still hoping to start up a program for residents who to visit and run errands for the elderly and homebound. What we need now are some friendly volunteers willing to spend time with a neighbor.
